1963

Il Bronzetto was founded by Antonio Calcinai and specializes in the production of furniture and lighting accessories in brass and bronze.

At the beginning the company, a family business, was created to meet the demands of the international market, producing mainly lighting and adapting from time to time to the taste of various retailers, who buy large quantities with the help of assistant buyers. The customers are almost exclusively private labels.

1990

The international scenarios change and with them begin the change of taste. The entry into the company of Simone and Pierfrancesco, Antonio’s sons, brings new visions and a greater awareness of what would have been the future of the company. The preferential market is the US market, achieved through the intermediation of buying officers.

2001

The attack on the twin towers and entry into China’s WTO mark an epochal change in export dynamics. The company loses 80% of the market set up so far by retails. The company structure targets its professional production and begins to work massively on projects of various kinds, especially in Italy and Europe.

2010

The cousin Michelangelo joins the company, which introduces new processes, such as the 3D printer and numerical control milling. Il Bronzetto is no longer a craft workshop, but it is a company capable of carrying out special projects and custom-made projects, also meeting the evolution in the world of lighting with the arrival of LEDs and electronics.

2014

The craft company Il Bronzetto begins a process of branding and presenting to the market lines of products grouped by brands, each with its own identity, its position and its audience. Brass Brothers & co. is born and the contemporary collection of the company with a focus on design.

2018

Today Il Bronzetto produces products appreciated and sold all over the world, passing on the knowledge of the materials and their processing techniques from the heritage of an entire generation of Florentine bronzists.

The company offers a wide range of products (lighting, tables, handles, accessories for the bathroom, accessories for fireplaces etc.) grouped according to different taste lines, starting from the classic style to the modern one up to contemporary design, trying to answer to market trends and customer needs.

The common denominator of all products is that they are the result of long experience and a thorough knowledge of materials and their processing techniques.

Customized work is also carried out starting from the design to the creation of the final product with attention to the smallest details.

The customization of the products is followed with high professionalism and accuracy, as the company team Il Bronzetto is able to support the designer and anyone who wants to approach the creation of a manufactured product, offering CAD design services, modeling 2 and 3D, rendering and prototyping, aimed at the verification of project feasibility, the optimization of costs and resources in general.

Context in which we operate: 100% made in Oltrarno

The activity of Il Bronzetto takes place in the historic Oltrarno district. Defined as rive gauche of Florence, the Oltrarno is an area rich of history, tradition and unique cultural identity, which for centuries has been kept alive by Florentine families who own ateliers, craft shops, art galleries, antique shops and commercial activities related to the art and craft world, transmitted from generation to generation.

Not far from each other, near Porta Romana, there is the showroom / commercial office and the workshop itself, today a specialized laboratory, where even the most sophisticated tools are used alongside the traditional tools of the bronzist trade. Some processes such as casting, finishing with galvanic baths, special profiling and milling are outsourced, but in any case all the processes are strictly and rigorously carried out in the Italian territory.

The knowledge of materials extends from brass and bronze, even to other metals such as iron and other materials such as precious stones, precious marbles and crystals, consoles, chandeliers, candlesticks, bookends and vases in style.
