Design, innovative ability and visions.
An architecture brand; trendsetting, unique products that enhance our life and work; design solutions at the highest aesthetic level; characteristic design idiom, innovation and visions – that is what Nimbus is all about. Since February 2019, Nimbus has belonged to the Häfele Group, where it has expanded the company's portfolio in the fields of lighting and acoustics. The goal is to pool the two companies' strengths – spirit of innovation, high level of entrepreneurial dynamism, quality and service in line with German standards – and develop holistic and connected room concepts with light and acoustics. Founded by the architect Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl in 1988, Nimbus became the LED pioneer of the lighting sector in 2006 with its radical switch to LED technology. Since that time, it has realised over 15,000 LED projects and regularly turns out trailblazing innovations. In 2016, for example, it launched its range of cableless luminaires: the first perfected, cableless luminaires with high design standards ever seen on the market. 2018 saw the introduction of the Lighting Pad, which combines light and acoustics in one unique product. Nimbus luminaires have won major international design prizes; they are energy-efficient, durable and sustainable, and now are joined by products from Häfele's Loox5 range. Loox strip lights stand out thanks to their versatility and ease of installation: you don't have to be a qualified electrician and can simply plug them in and combine them as you wish. Other great features include lasting quality, durability and global compatibility thanks to the unique Loox power supply unit. The two product worlds are increasingly merging into one at the location in Stuttgart, where the new Centre of Competence for Light and Acoustics is being constantly expanded.

Today poetic design is based on a plethora of complex criteria: human experience, social behaviors, global, economic and political issues, physical and mental interaction, form, vision, and a rigorous understanding and desire for contemporary culture. Manufacturing is based on another collective group of criteria: capital investment, market share, production ease, dissemination, growth, distribution, maintenance, service, performance, quality, ecological issues and sustainability. The combination of these factors shape our objects, inform our forms, our physical space, visual culture and our contemporary human experience. These quantitative constructs shape business, identity, brand and value. This is the business of beauty. Every business should be completely concerned with beauty - it is after all a collective human need. I believe that we could be living in an entirely different world - one that is full of real contemporary inspiring objects, spaces, places, worlds, spirits and experiences. Design has been the cultural shaper of our world from the start. We have designed systems, cities, and commodities. We have addressed the world’s problems. Now design is not about solving problems, but about a rigorous beautification of our built environments. Design is about the betterment of our lives poetically, aesthetically, experientially, sensorially, and emotionally. My real desire is to see people live in the modus of our time, to participate in the contemporary world, and to release themselves from nostalgia, antiquated traditions, old rituals, kitsch and the meaningless. We should be conscious and attune with this world in this moment. If human nature is to live in the past - to change the world is to change human nature.
