For over 85 years, creating design for interiors that interpret contemporary needs has been the mission of Bonaldo, a company representing Italian design on an international scale. Its collections are the expression of a refined Made in Italy production: tables, chairs, sofas, beds, accessories, and lighting elements are made in Italy, employing the most modern technologies and fine materials, carefully selected and with certificates of authenticity. The company, with headquarters in Padua, was established in 1936 as a craft business specialized in the production of metal bedsteads. It soon extended its production to iron beds, inventing a foldable bedstead that became a market standard. It was in the 1960s, thanks to an relentless path of development, that the company turned into a manufacturing industry: the collection extended to create a line of furniture that arrived in 1971, for the first time, at the Salone del Mobile of Milan. Step by step, the range of furnishings expanded to comprise armchairs, chairs, tables, and accessories. The volume of exports became more and more significant, proving that Bonaldo is a successful brand loved by an increasingly cosmopolitan public. The year 2000 marks Bonaldo's first steps in the design sector, inaugurating a series of collaborations with world-renowned designers who contribute to a constantly growing success made of passion, commitment, material- and design-experimentation. The contribution of creative talents under the direction of Bonaldo is one of the key elements of the continuous growth of the company, recognized for its ability to transform ideas into projects which are highly appreciated globally. The Bonaldo collections, which stem from the strong link between man and material, between creativity and market knowledge, are the synthesis of the different points of view and personalities of Italian and international designers who have intertwined their paths with the company over the years and who, with their brilliant talent, contribute to the ever-growing recognisability of the Bonaldo style. Bartoli Design, Mauro Lipparini, Alain Gilles, Fabrice Berrux, Marco Zito, up to the most recent collaborations with Roberto Paoli, Maurizio and Silvia Varsi, Matteo Nunziati, Toshiyuki Yoshino: these are some of the designers who have successfully contributed over the years to the constant design renewal of Bonaldo’s collections, enhancing their overall vision in the sign of a dialogue between design and craftsmanship and a strong projection towards modernity. A success confirmed by a series of important international awards: starting with the "Young & Design Award" assigned in 1996 to the Più folding chair. Over the years, among other prizes, Bonaldo won the "Good Design Award 2008" and the "Red Dot Award 2008" for the Poly chair by Karim Rashid and the "Good design Award" in 2009 for Big Table designed by Alain Gilles, which remains today one of the company's iconic tables. And then again, the "Good Design Award 2013" for the Octa table by Bartoli Design, the "Good Design Award" in 2018 for the Panorama sofa by Fabrice Berrux and the "Archiproducts Design Awards 2020" for the Circus table, once again signed by Berrux, up to the “Good Design Award” in 2020 for the Geometric Table designed by Alain Gilles and the most recent "Archiproducts Design Awards" and "Good Design Award" in 2022 for the Nelson L bed and the Nelson collection designed by Matteo Nunziati. The company's ever-evolving production and stylistic path today translates into a new idea of furniture in which the different elements of the collections interact with each other, merging into a single identity style. This process leads to the realization of the ‘B/Style’ furniture project, which marks a milestone in the history of the company. B/Style gives rise to coordinated collections characterized by a single overall stylistic language, the result of the connection between the individual elements and the environments to which they belong in a uniform and natural way. Appreciated and recognized all over the world, the B/Style is developed through the Dining, Accessories & Lighting, Living and Night collections which, thanks to a skilful work of coordination, interact with each other in a harmonious stylistic dialogue. In each of these collections, the details and Bonaldo's distinctive stylistic code are easily perceptible and are the basis of "a conceptual inversion" in which the furnishings welcome the rooms, and not vice versa, for a new dimension of living. This constantly evolving project reflects the positioning of the company and responds to the cultural change of a modern clientele, in search of fluid spaces and increasingly refined and stylistically coordinated furnishings. In this path, Bonaldo's technological vocation, supported by strong investments in research and development with a constant strengthening of plants and production departments, is wisely combined with tradition, entrusting the fundamental steps of a production localized in the Veneto region to the work of expert craftsmen, testifying to the strong link with the territory and with its origins. An all-Italian production in style and lifestyle, unique and not reproducible elsewhere, but capable of communicating with the various international trends of contemporary design. Representing the third generation of the family, Alberto Bonaldo, the company's Managing Director, supports an integrated approach to design which represents a fundamental element of the growing development both in Italy and abroad. From the Far East to the United States, from Australia to New Zealand, from South America to Europe, these are the leading markets for Bonaldo which, thanks to its commercial approach aimed at intercontinental expansion, exports 70% of its total production. The company is distributed in 91 countries around the world and has 900 stores, 30 of which are Bonaldo Flagship Store, Bonaldo Space and Bonaldo Studio: from Taipei to Moscow, from the most recent Kuala Lumpur to Lyon, from the Ivory Coast to Toronto, from Paris to Shanghai, Bonaldo' spaces are all united by a single, worldwide highly identifying stylistic code. Thanks to a recognisable style that transcends cultures and geographical boundaries, today Bonaldo furnishes hotels, restaurants, offices, shops and private homes, from historic urban flats to country villas on every continent. There is also a special collaboration with the nautical sector, a sector with great potential for the company's commercial development.

Today poetic design is based on a plethora of complex criteria: human experience, social behaviors, global, economic and political issues, physical and mental interaction, form, vision, and a rigorous understanding and desire for contemporary culture. Manufacturing is based on another collective group of criteria: capital investment, market share, production ease, dissemination, growth, distribution, maintenance, service, performance, quality, ecological issues and sustainability. The combination of these factors shape our objects, inform our forms, our physical space, visual culture and our contemporary human experience. These quantitative constructs shape business, identity, brand and value. This is the business of beauty. Every business should be completely concerned with beauty - it is after all a collective human need. I believe that we could be living in an entirely different world - one that is full of real contemporary inspiring objects, spaces, places, worlds, spirits and experiences. Design has been the cultural shaper of our world from the start. We have designed systems, cities, and commodities. We have addressed the world’s problems. Now design is not about solving problems, but about a rigorous beautification of our built environments. Design is about the betterment of our lives poetically, aesthetically, experientially, sensorially, and emotionally. My real desire is to see people live in the modus of our time, to participate in the contemporary world, and to release themselves from nostalgia, antiquated traditions, old rituals, kitsch and the meaningless. We should be conscious and attune with this world in this moment. If human nature is to live in the past - to change the world is to change human nature.
